Our “SINGLE DONOR CITRATED PLASMA FLASH FROZEN” units are similar to “FRESH FROZEN PLASMA” but is not intended for transfusion use. For many years, Continental has been producing this product for use in manufacturing coagulation controls. Individual donors are bled into 4% Sodium Citrate solution. The Whole Blood unit is immediately centrifuged and the plasma is expressed off of the cells into a high-impact plastic bottle. The bottle and side samples are immersed in a freezing bath at –70 degrees C. The flash freezing within minutes of draw preserves critical plasma factors. The product is maintained at low temperature and shipped on dry ice after found to be clear of viral markers and syphilis.

Individual donor plasmas can be drawn in Sodium Citrate, ACD, CPD, CPDA-1, Heparin or EDTA for specialized needs.

Continental Services Group is licensed to perform automated plasmapheresis for in vitro applications. Donors can be selected and processed per customer requirements consistent with FDA guidelines. We also offer donor services to licensed entities that identify donors of interest.
